More than 40 teen girls display ‘Passion for Fashion’

The glamour of old Hollywood visited the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation in South Dakota on Saturday, March 7, when 44 teenage girls converged on our campus in Eagle Butte for CRYP’s ninth annual “Passion for Fashion.”

Held in the project’s Cokata Wiconi Teen Center, this popular event provides support for teens on the reservation who may not have the financial means to purchase formal wear, jewelry and makeup for that most important of high-school experiences: the prom.

Thinking of volunteering? Consider us!

President Barack Obama recently called for a “renewed spirit of national service,” encouraging all Americans to engage in volunteer work that suits their interests. He has commented that volunteerism not only provides much-needed services in local communities, it proves rewarding to the volunteer.

“Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition,” the president famously remarked. “It asks too little of yourself. Because it’s only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential.”
